BLACK AMERICAN HISTORY: Do The MATH

PAY ATTENTION:DO THE MATH:

If you know about Black history and understand humanity, then you appreciate no other community that survived about 250 years of enslavement based solely of race, conditions of birth.

250 years is about 16 generations.

from 1630 -1866. and in this country.

at the end of that enslavement, which was not like GWTW or ROOTS, there was JimCrowSegregation

American Apartheid. from 1890 to 1970. so that is 350 years total.

Black people have been in America since 1619.

“Knowledge makes a man unfit to be a slave.” Frederick Douglass

So, I could try to avoid controversy… but naw!

So in the Bible, God had the Hebrews wonder in the dessert for 40 years after leaving slavery in Egypt.

so let’s presume that 40 years was a lifespan at that time although I think it was less.

and let’s remember that Moses didn’t enter the promise land.

So what is the point, the lesson of the 40 years in the dessert?

what if it prevented anyone who had experienced life as a slave from entering the Promised Land?

Because it takes a very different skill set to be a free man than to be a slave. and there was no space for the slave mentality, either master or servant in the Promised Land

So how does this lesson apply to Black Americans?flag bondage

should we have killed off a generation after 246 years of slavery?

should we have killed off a generation after 82 years of JimCrow Segregation?

And because those who experienced Slavery and Segregation lived in our community, are we doomed to never be truly free?

Did they poison us? Do they still?

OR…
is it that our older generations need to SHUT THE FUCK UP?

that we must ignore the voices tainted by slavery and segregation and drenched in fear and inferiority? internalized racism?

“Knowledge makes a man unfit to be a slave.” Frederick Douglassfrederick douglass

we gonna be alright

generations of segregation and poor quality education.

generations of segregation and limited access to economic resources.
generations of segregation… poor quality nutrition and medical care access.
generations of segregation and internalized racism damaged, racialized self esteem .

AND WE ARE STILL HERE.

we SURVIVE and THRIVE in the most OPENLY HOSTILE environment.

generations of enslavement, lynching, police brutality, respectability politics, murder, poverty

and WE ARE STILL HERE

do you really wonder why they FEAR US!!!

we are a mighty and resilient people

WE GONNA BE ALRIGHT

My thoughts of Education, Chicago Public Schools, disparate opportunity. WARNING: I AM GOING IN!!!

There is rampant, open and notorious disparity in Chicago Public Schools.
NOT ALL NEIGHBORHOOD SCHOOLS ARE CREATED EQUAL
NOT ALL SELECTIVE ADMISSION SCHOOLS ARE CREATED EQUAL
NOT ALL MAGNET SCHOOLS ARE CREATED EQUAL

this is just CPS

NOW, compare the best of CPS to University of Chicago Laboratory School.
why?

this is where Barack, Arne and Rahm sent or send their children. what do the people who make educational policy for our children want for their own is a good place to start your analysis

WARNING:
I AM GOING IN!!! – Education _ schools – CPS

There are threshold facts needed to be discussed prior to a real discussion about education, especially public education, particularly Chicago Public Schools.

To begin, we must address that we as citizens and or parents have a right to quality public education in our city.
Chicago has a particularly twisted history of segregation and inequality.
References to what “we had, back in the day “, as good enough are not relevant standards as the playing field has and continues to change.

ACCESS TO QUALITY EDUCATION DRAMATICALLY IMPACTS QUALITY OF LIFE, SOCIO ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY, AND ACCUMULATION OF GENERATIONAL WEALTH.

1. Public education was designed to train workers. THE MOVE FROM AMERICA AS AN INDUSTRY BASED ECONOMY FROM A FARM BASED ECONOMY. That is part of why it is run like a factory.

2. Black americans must get clear that they(educational elite and politicians) don’t want us to learn or think – “be able to fill out job application” PennyPritzker, former CPS board member and friend of PBO. Ramh Emmanuel believes over half of CPS gets aren’t worth an education and will allow for profit charter schools to exploit the communities.

3. We have to accept that we are the products of a factory system and learn what real education looks like.

4. We have to understand that changes in US economy means that workers aren’t trained for jobs anymore, but now are trained to be prisoners of the prison industrial complex.

5.The educational elite believe that certain people don’t deserve a quality education, because then no one will want to mow the lawns and make the beds.

6. To begin to appreciate what real education looks like – look were the powerful send their children. compare, demand and accept nothing less. &. the fight for education is directly related to systemic racism and income inequality

factors to evaluate:
class size.
teacher experience/education
professional development
professional support and planning
resources – library, computers, field trips, books, instruments
curriculum – art, music, fine arts, plus the three “r’s”
finally – think on this.

nothing is free.

your tax dollars are used to pay for the dismal excuse of education that is CPS.

this is happening on your watch

what you dont know about black culture is killing me…

I am still tripping on ignorant reactionary assumption making, conclusion jumping white american abysmal blatant and arrogant interpretation of black culture, community and institutions.

Capt Ron Johnson of the Missouri Highway Patrol is not in a GANG. He is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity. black Greek letter organizations have existed since 1906 – “SkeeWeee”(this means that I am an AKA)

holding up ‘strong peace sign‘ -Two Fingers (index and middle) palm in toward body – is not a gang sign, but a cultural twist on the 60’s peace sign palm out.

not all black people are first generation college – 3 HBCU‘s were established prior to the start of the Civil War.

Slavery existed on this continent from 1619 to 1865.

reconstruction existed from 1866-1893

JimCrow Segregation – American Apartheid existed on the federal level from 1896 to 1965. * various state laws pre and post date federal segregation.

think about this in reference to your life, your parents, grandparents.

state laws prohibiting interracial marriage were struck down in 1967.

James Byrd was lynched in 1998.
the practice of killing people by extrajudicial mob action, occurred in the United States chiefly from the late 18th century through the 1960s.
Lynchings took place most frequently against African-American men in the Southern US from 1890 to the 1920s with a peak in 1892.
records on lynchings are now lost under the category hate crime
