the Big Black Homogeneous Monolith of the Black Community… is a myth

I have been thinking about the black community and the impossible position that we have been put in.
the demand for UNANIMITY.

Non blacks often speak
of the Black community as a
homogeneous monolith, and nothing could be further from the truth.
It is lazy thinking and evidences a lack of scholarship and critical thinking.
And many black people sign on to it.
we need to come together…
no, those of us who agree, need to come together.

its like the notion of “BLACK PEOPLE DONT …” skydive, have oral sex, bungee jump, whatever it is it isnt true.

black people do what ever people do, because black people are people.
Back to the big black homogeneous monolith… its a myth.

we have every educational, political, social and economic strata that every other group has.

think about it. where are you relative to ‘those muthafukas’ and ‘those niggers’
‘those muthafukas’ are people that you perceive as being better off than you, even when you condemn some aspect of their behavior.
its stupid to buy a new car every years, but I would love to have that money.
‘ those niggers’ are people that you believe you are better off than and may even condemn their way of life – in a HOT MESS way.

so if I wrote this properly you are thinking about examples of these socio-economic strata and how you see yourself in the range.

you may also come at me with the Willie Lynch Letter, which I suggest that you put in the same anal cavity as “Respectability Politics”. I have yet to see those letters bring us together. they come up often in conversations about skin color and gender in the black community. most often to deter conversation.

my point is ultimately that anything which limits the expression of a people, limiting activity and perspective is wrong because people are people and that type of thinking is lazy and easy and inappropriate.
