The issue of hair of our community is so full if shame and unrealistic expectations.
I was fortunate that my daughter liked getting her hair combed.
One of my sons hated brushing combing etc. Somedays it just wasn’t worth the battle.
And who are you doing it for? For you ? Appearances? The neighbors?
At this point in my life I really don’t understand the stress and strain we put on little black girls.
To look like what? For whom? We pull their hair by the roots so it looks neat (looks white or straight)
we press and curl then perm so they can’t swim play ball.
For what? We really need to think about our hair and related issues in a new way.
I would really like all WOMEN to consider what is really important here.
If I am supposed to uphold standards I should understand the source and purpose of those standards.
If I don’t I am just another mindless lemming aimless in my judgments and criticisms.
